Overview

The Number Game ("we", "us", or "our") is a multiplayer counting game where players collaborate to count upward without breaking the chain. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your Google account display name, email address, and a unique Google user identifier. This data is processed through Firebase Authentication.

Gameplay Data

We store data related to your in-game activity, including:

• Lobbies you create or join and your membership status
• Numbers you submit during gameplay
• Game resets caused by incorrect submissions (the "shame list")
• Apology messages you write after a reset
• Your role in each lobby (creator or member)

Technical Data

Firebase may automatically collect device identifiers, IP addresses, and basic usage metadata as part of its standard operation.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

• Authentication – to verify your identity and maintain your session
• Game functionality – to persist game state, track scores, manage lobby membership, and display the shame list to other players in your group
• Multiplayer experience – to show your display name and activity to other players in shared lobbies

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following Google Firebase services to operate the app:

• Firebase Authentication – for sign-in via Google
• Cloud Firestore – for real-time data storage and synchronisation
• Firebase Cloud Functions – for server-side game logic (e.g. joining a lobby)

These services are operated by Google LLC. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf. You can review Google's privacy practices at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your Firebase Authentication record and all associated Firestore data (lobby memberships, gameplay records, and shame list entries) within 30 days of your request.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under applicable data protection laws (including the GDPR and CCPA):

• Right of access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Right to deletion – request that we delete your account and all associated data
• Right to rectification – request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Right to data portability – receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

6. International Data Transfers

Firebase services may process and store data on servers located in the United States and other countries. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, your data may be transferred outside your jurisdiction. Google provides appropriate safeguards for these transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

7. Children's Privacy

The Number Game is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. 8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
